New Delhi: For Brian Pinto, there was nothing more heartbreaking than leaving his pet behind as he began preparing for a better life across the border, which he chose above for being a poor immigrant.
Eighteen-year-old Brian Pinto has traveled through many countries with Brandy, his pet dog, to reach the US-Mexico border from which he will seek asylum in the US.

But in a sad turn of events, Pinto had to say goodbye to his two-year companion in tears because Brandi was not allowed by the authorities to cross to the other side. “Leaving her is like leaving a family member,” Pinto told Reuters.

How Pets improve health?

Doctors believe that pet owners have greater health benefits than those without one. The rabbit is ideal for those allergic to other animals. Birds can encourage social interaction and help keep your mind sharp. Snakes, lizards, and other reptiles make strange companions. Even watching fish in an aquarium can help reduce muscle tension and lower your pulse rate.

Adopting healthy lifestyle changes plays a very important role in relieving symptoms of anxiety, depression, and various mental disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder. Caring for a pet can help you make healthy changes in your lifestyle by:

  • Make you exercise: Taking your pet dog for a walk, hike or run is a fun way to fit into a healthy exercise schedule.
  • to provide companionship: It has been proven by numerous studies that companionship prevents illness and even adds years to your life, while isolation and loneliness can trigger symptoms of depression. Caring for an animal can make you feel needed and wanted, and take the focus away from your problems, especially if you live alone.
  • help you socialize: Pets can be a great social lubricant for owners, helping you start and maintain friendships and social circles.
  • Add structure and daily routine: Many pets have regular feeding and exercise schedules, so following their consistent routine can also benefit you. No matter your mood – depressed, anxious or stressed, look once at your pet and you will take care of it.
