The engineer. Rani B. Constantino, a former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who has worked in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for over 33 years, is the owner and president of D’Constantinos Farm Corporation.
It is an integrated and diversified farm located at Barangay Pantihan 2, Maragondon, Cavite. The farm is currently an educational site approved by the Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) for farming in Zone IV-A or the CALABARZON (Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon) region.
On February 24, 2022, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) awarded the farm the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program Registration Certificate for Livestock (Ruminants) National Certificate II (NC II).
The farm was established in 2018 with the specific goal of making great success in Filipino farming and helping other Filipino workers discover and appreciate the simplicity of worthwhile farming.
According to Engr. Rani, “Our simple mission on the farm is to provide complete profitable services to the farmers and workers in the Philippines to take part in the process and have access to readily available resources.
The engineer. Rani envisioned his farm would be a model of success and the foundation of modern agriculture in the Philippines. “At D’ Costantinos Farm, we use cost-effective and efficient farming methods to reach our goal of providing livestock and healthy products at affordable prices. Thus, promoting effective and sustainable financial resource alternatives for all returnees, forming strong partnerships and a sense of community,” adds the engineer . Rani.
The engineer. Rani B. Costantino is a former leader of the Filipino Workers in the World and a lawyer who was based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He was very active in the Filipino community in Saudi Arabia, helping his fellow Filipinos. Now having resided permanently in the Philippines, Engr. Rani continues to strive to extend a helping hand to the Filipino community by providing sustainable livelihoods, offering world-class yet affordable livestock farming, and sharing his vast knowledge of basic and advanced farming.
He said, “Ipinangako ko ko sa aking sarili na ako’y babalik ng Pilipinas at babalikan ko and isang agrikultura na nagbibigay kabuhayan sa aking mga kababayan (I promised myself that I would return to the Philippines and return to agriculture that provides livelihoods for my fellow Filipinos)” .
His current and future efforts are designed to help his fellow kababayans (his fellow Filipinos) while promoting his love of Filipino farming. He believes that there is fulfillment in the simplicity of cultivation.
D’ Constantinos Farm Corp. is calling. To the continuous development of the farm in line with the government’s goal of ensuring national food security.
The farm introduces new livestock programs such as heritage chickens, rabbits, goats and other alternative feeds such as duckweed. He sells goat meat at a lower price to the neighborhood.
The farm employs staff within the neighborhood to provide employment opportunities for local residents. It implements a nutrition program for the community, local stranded individuals (LSIs), and stranded overseas workers.
The farm is registered with TESDA to offer a program in Livestock Production (Ruminants) NC II for a duration of 306 hours. The program covers the following competency modules: Core, General and Core Competencies.
The core competencies are as follows: 1) participating in workplace communication, 2) working in a team environment, 3) practicing a professional occupation, and 4) practicing occupational health and safety procedures.
Common competencies include 1) applying safety measures in farm operations, 2) making estimates and calculations, and 3) practicing occupational health and safety procedures. The core competencies are 1) maintaining housing and farm implements and surroundings, 2) providing fodder, 3) undertaking ruminant animal husbandry, 4) raising meat-type animals.
According to TESDA, the farm registered program as a full qualification is presented as a set of competency modules as contained therein.
The farm has completed all required modern facilities for ruminant animals such as modern goat breeding and production program including well organized and modern designed goat houses, quarantine houses, animal hospital and grazing areas for livestock.
At D’ Constantinos Farm, we use cost-effective and efficient farming methods to provide affordable and healthy livestock and livestock products such as smoked longanisa, leather, smoked sausage and bacon.
Thus, the farm promotes efficient and sustainable financial resource alternatives for all returnees, thus forming a strong partnership and sense of community.
Profitable goat farming. The farm carries out cross-breeding to improve the local breed of goats. One of the main features of this program is that it involves raising the standard of livestock by cross-breeding a mestiza or hybrid with imported giant bucks. Doing so will make the goats profitable when marketed.
Chicken free of poultry. The farm raises free heritage chickens to produce meat and eggs.
livestock production. Cattle are raised in confinement and in grazing areas for meat production.
Rabbit production. Rabbits are bred to produce high quality meat including the Giant Flemish rabbit from New Zealand.
As Magsasaka Siyentista (a farmer scientist) from the CALABARZON region, Eng. Rani can be invited to assess the farm dedicated to livestock production. On his farm, there are stocks for sale as entry-level animals for beginners in the farming industry.
