Native plants of New England

Master Gardener Gretel Anspach will present ‘Native New England Plants’ at the November 10 meeting of the North Shore Horticultural Society at 7:30 pm and the meeting will take place at Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 60 St School, Manchester. Anspach will focus on plants native to the area that are easier to maintain, are more tolerant of New England weather, and may offer better resistance to deer and rabbits. The trees, shrubs, and perennials that developed here will grow here with much less input from you. Find out how to “become a native” and reduce your workload while creating a paradise for native birds and pollinators. Anspach is a life master gardener with the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, a member of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, and a retired systems engineer. She also helped establish and maintain two food production parks that supply fresh produce to the Marlborough Food Pantry. NSHS meetings are free for members. For non-members there is a $5 fee. Annual NSHS membership is $25 (single) and $35 (family). Membership includes 10 meetings, see for more information. Free parking (behind the church) for all meetings. Arrangements are made for safe and socially distant personal meetings.
