Watch another black bear in New Jersey, this one on Shannon Holly

I heard about the TV show Man vs Wild the correct? Well, I have an idea for a new reality show. It’s called Jersey Girl Against Nature. It’s when a city girl radio personality is forced to confront the threat of a bear roaming her neighborhood and the fun that ensues.

Police warned that a “very large black bear” was seen walking in our neighbourhood. I was out on a Friday night at our local high school football game when my neighbor called to tell me a bear had been seen in my yard. He warned me to keep my kids and dog indoors and to follow local updates.

Holy S#! *!!! It was all I could do to regain the courage to go back inside my house with the kids. I woke up in the morning thinking I might have been overreacting a bit. I mean maybe it’s moving though right? wrong – wrong – wronged He was seen walking down my street again early that morning, and on the other side of the fence, my rubbish was all over the yard. Another neighbor took this photo earlier in the year from her yard. There’s no way to know if it’s the same bear or not, but we’ve had more than our share lately!

My next door neighbor reminded me to “look in the trees” before I let the dog out. So you can imagine I’m on edge. Just to add some humor to this for you guys, let me share this moment too. After waiting until Sunday to get out of my house, I finally decided to open my roof to get pruners to cut my bushes in my front yard. Keep in mind, I’m still on pins and needles about bear sightings. I open my roof to find some kind of groundhog/rodent staring at me before darting away. There is no rationality at this point, I am convinced that the bear is a friend of the groundhog and they are all there. The rodents and I ran in separate directions making our own versions of the shriek. Nature 2, Shannon 0.

ICYMI Lou and I talked about this morning on the show. Hear the story here.

Joking aside, sightings of bears have doubled this year. why? A woman was attacked by a bear when she went out to check her mail last May. Remember that? That attack was in Sussex. She went to get her mail around 4:30 when she saw three bears and she was charged with one. Fortunately, a neighbor used their car horn to scare away the bears. The woman was hit in the arm and buttocks.

We saw this big boy on someone’s doorbell just a few weeks ago.

also, Two young dogs were killed to death In their backyards last January.

There have been nearly 400 bear encounters this year alone (These are actual meetings, not just scenes). what’s going? I feel like it was about keeping us COVID in our homes for so long and the animals felt it was “okay” to go outside. Now we’re back and we all meet more than any of us would want. Another reason is that bear hunting in New Jersey has been canceled for the time being. In addition, experts say that mother bears tend to have two healthy cubs every two years, and most of the time the cubs survive, so we are currently dealing with the influx. Construction never helps things, and New Jersey is constantly evolving.

However, there has only been one documented death in our state’s history, so I should probably take a deep breath.

Can you believe there are some exhausted people out there trying to make owning a wild bear a pet? Personally, I am against anyone who owns exotic animals, but this is a list of animals that are allowed to be owned in New Jersey.

10 Exotic Animals Legal to Own in New Jersey

These pets are prohibited in every state.

LOOK: Here are the pets that are banned in every state

Because regulation of exotic animals is up to the states, some organizations, including the Humane Society of the United States, advocate for uniform federal legislation prohibiting the possession of big cats, bears, monkeys, and large venomous snakes as pets.

Read on to find out which pets are banned in your state, as well as across the country.
